It can be shocking how much money you will spend on the little odds and ends at Christmas. These are items that most people don’t even think to plan for in their holiday budget. These are must have items that most of us use every year. You can easily spend $50 or more on these items. If you buy them at your local dollar store you will save a bundle that you can stash in your savings account or put towards other gifts. Most importantly this will save you big money on your Christmas budget.
Greeting Cards
If you tend to give cash or gift cards as a gift you will definitely want to buy cards at the dollar store. I’m a little shocked by how much some greeting cards cost these days. Aren’t you?
If you are tired of buying greeting cards that you know will just end up in the trash. You need to try creating family journals! They will save you money and become an awesome family keepsake.
Wrapping Paper
The wrapping paper at the dollar store has gotten much better in quality over the last few years. Most of it also has the helpful lines for cutting straight which is a total bonus. When you are tired of the design the good news is the rolls of paper from dollar stores don’t last that long.
Tissue Paper
I haven’t bought tissue paper in a regular store in years. The dollar store tissue paper is just as good and a great value for your money.
Gift Bags
Gift bags are a great item that you can repurpose, but if you don’t happen to have the right one at your house. The dollar store is a great place to get nice gift bags for a reasonable price.
Gift Boxes
You can find gift boxes for clothes or gift cards at the dollar store. We use clothing gift boxes for storing some of our holiday decorations like lights and garland. They do wear out so I go to the dollar store to replace them.
Stockings
The quality of stockings at the dollar stores has really improved. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality when I went just the other day. If you have a new addition to your family or it is time to replace those old tattered stockings, check out the ones at your local dollar store.
Stocking Stuffers
You can find some awesome stocking stuffers for toddlers and young children like puzzles, coloring books, jump ropes, bubbles and more at the dollar store.
Scotch Tape
If you hand wrap all your gifts you will want to stock up on tape. I often find packs of 2 rolls for $1.00 at our local dollar store. I would much rather pay $1.00 for 2 rolls than $2-5 a pack.
Bows
Bows are another item that get used up and tossed out quickly. That is why I buy them at the dollar store.
Gift Tags
The final item I always stock up on for Christmas at the dollar store are gift tags. The quality is just as good as at full price retail stores.
It is so easy to blow your Christmas budget on little items. They can really add up. Be sure to buy these items at the dollar store where you will get what you need for far less.
