The Ultimate Outdoor Birthday Party Checklist

Kid’s birthday parties are so much fun, but they are so much work. It can be difficult to keep track of everything you need to be ready for a kid’s birthday party. The last few years we have had our children’s birthday parties at local parks. When you are having a party for your child that is outside, there is a long list of items you will need to remember to bring. There is nothing worse than forgetting your child’s cake or food for their party. Sign up above for my birthday party checklist and you will always remember everything you need for your outdoor birthday party.

Kid's Birthday Party Checklist

Food

No party is complete without a proper selection of food to eat and your child’s birthday is no exception. You will need to decide whether or not you are serving a meal or just snacks and finger food. The easiest type of foods to serve are pizza, hamburgers and hotdogs (if you have access to a grill) or sandwiches. Last year we mixed it up for our son’s birthday and ordered take out chicken fingers and fries from Cane’s. It was a nice change and a huge hit with our guests and not too expensive.

In addition to a main course you will want to have snacks such as veggie trays, fruit, fruit snacks, and cookie, crackers or chip packs. Depending on the amount and ages of guests you will want to have plenty of water, juice, and soda. Be sure to stock up on ice and have a container to keep it cool.

Last, but not least you want to remember to have the cake, cupcakes or other dessert ready to go. You don’t want to forget candles, a lighter and decorations for the cake if you need them.

Party Supplies

As soon as you start purchasing party supplies like table cloths, decorations and party favors make a list of what you have. Also be sure to remember where you put the supplies if the party is a few months away. I once ordered party supplies for my daughter and hid them so well I almost didn’t find them and was just about to order new ones. If you keep a running list this will help you remember what you will need to bring to the venue that day. The more themed your party is, the more important this will be

Miscellaneous Supplies

On my birthday party checklist I created you will see many random supplies and wonder what they are for. First, we always bring cleaning supplies such as paper towels and a surface spray like Green Works for outdoor parties. It never fails that we have to wipe down the picnic tables. Paper towels are just handy for wiping things down in general and the same goes for baby wipes. If you have a party with lots of young kids and super dye laden cupcakes you will be glad you have the wipes.

Another item I put on the list are table cloth clips. If you live anywhere where it gets windy you will want to have table cloth clips with you or find some to help weigh down table cloths and other objects that may blow away during your party. You will never regret bringing a 1st aid kit either should a child fall down and skin their knee. Finally, I always bring towels for mopping up spills. They also come in handy for covering food and keeping it warm until your guests arrive.

Sign up for the list and keep it nearby when you are preparing to pack up party supplies for your child’s outdoor party venue, you will never be worried that you forgot an important item.
